CAREER BACKGROUND

A Technical Writer

Before retirement, I worked for over 30 years as a technical writer and video creation director in the marketing department of a Japanese electronics manufacturer. Through this work, I considered and learned how to convey information and ideas in an easy-to-understand manner, especially to people with different ways of thinking and dissimilar levels of knowledge. This experience has proved very valuable to me, helping me to share the discovery and enjoyment of Japanese cuisine with people from around the world.

LIFE EXPERIENCE

A Working Parent

As a working parent, I have often had to plan for food shopping within a limited amount of time, cooking efficiently, and serving tasty meals that suit my family’s physical and emotional needs. I believe this is very different to chef’s cooking. I’m looking forward to sharing my home cooking wisdom with you.

KNOWLEDGE

An International Chinese Medicinal Meal Master

While cooking for more than 30 years, I noticed that traditional Japanese home cooking was influenced by the diet of traditional Chinese medicine that we call ‘Kampo.’ In 2021-2022, I studied the basics of Chinese medicine and medicinal meal at Japan Chinese Medicine Institute. In 2022, I qualified as an International Chinese Medicinal Meal Master, and I continue my studies. Within my lessons, from time to time, I will touch on what effects can be expected from certain types of food.

My Aims with This Activity

I want to communicate with non-Japanese people by cooking and enjoying life together.

I want to broaden my horizons by experiencing more cultural differences in the world.

I want to contribute to other people’s health through Japanese cuisine.
